Goodwill Ambassador

Fair Lawn, NJ – Asha Project is pleased to announce the appointment of Mr. Rajendra (Ray) Shrestha as a Goodwill Ambassador.

Rajendra’s passion and commitment to help his countrymen and his skills will be instrumental in assisting The Asha Project as we continue to increase awareness of our organization and seek new supporters. I am delighted to welcome Rajendra as our Goodwill Ambassador. His expertise and resources will greatly benefit our organization,” said Dr. Tulsi R. Maharjan, Chair of the project and the past District Governor of the Rotary District 7510.  “Rajendra’s passion to help earthquake victims in Nepal and dedication to educating youth will add value to our organization and enhance our mission of helping earthquake victims in Nepal.”

Mr. Rajendra Shrestha (Ray) is the owner of the ARC Beauty Salon in Fair Lawn and a current member of the Fair Lawn Sunrise Rotary Club. He immigrated to America 17 years ago from Nepal and, along with his wife Anjana (Ann), has grown their beauty salon since. As an active member of the business community and a Rotarian, he has been very active with many humanitarian projects in his own community and communities around the world.   

 

“I’m thrilled to join the Asha Project as a Goodwill Ambassador and recognize the value of this project and its vital importance to the global community. I believe passionately in its mission and it is indeed my privilege to serve and help to make a significant difference in the lives of the earthquake victims in Nepal.”

 

The Asha Project is the New Jersey based sister organization of the Friends of Nepal-NJ that focuses on the construction of homes, schools and community centers and generation of microloans and scholarships, in order to build a promising future for the world's poorest people in Nepal. “Asha" means "hope" in Nepalese. Bringing hope to families near and far is one of the purpose of this project. We seek to support inspire and enable marginalized women and youth in Nepal, who need them most, to realize their full potential.  The Friends of Nepal-NJ has been providing support in Nepal since 1990.

The Asha Project will be leading a team of volunteers to Nepal in mid-February 2017 to rebuild houses destroyed by the earthquake and distribute microloans to women in Nepal.  If you are interested in participating in this humanitarian mission, please contact us at trm7510@gmail.com.
